The year 2009 came to a close as fast as it started. The board has faced some challenges, but we
have over come those and continue to push ahead. In 2009 the trial season kicked of in Stockton and so did the
budget problems. We ended the year in Alameda and I can
honestly say the year went very well even with some intense heat.
As we begin the
year 2010 we do so with our very own Narcotic Certification. This has taken some time to put together and
the attorney just approved the final draft. The criterion for certification officials has also been completed and we
are gathering names of those interested in being officials. The next step will be a class for this
certification.
We have gathered
the names of those willing to serve on a by-laws committee and we will set up a
meeting soon with those who are interested. There are some changes that need to be made in our by-laws and it will
require a vote of the association.
Three board members
went to Reno
and met with members of Reno P.D.They
are very excited about being a part of W.S.P.C.A. again.I believe this end of the year trial will be
a great time.We also met with staff of
The Grand Sierra Resort Hotel and toured their facility. We have since signed an agreement with them
and the two day conference dates have been set for October 20 and 21,
2010.The trial will follow on the 22
and 23.
My goals for 2010
is to improve our bylaws, create a patrol certification that is more then a
P.O.S.T. basic standard, create more training days, and have a successful
conference and trial season. I would
also like to have a judge training day and see to it the judges are all on the
same page.
It sounds like a lot
of work and it will be, but goals are something we set out to accomplish. If we have no goals, we accomplish
nothing. The new website has some good
information on it and there will be more to come.
